The argument that "The way to make sure the war is not “endless” is to decisively win it" is the theme of the classic article by Edward Luttwak in Foreign Affairs in 1999 called "Give War a Chance": https://peacelearner.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/edward-luttwak-give-war-a-chance1.pdf

It is 9 pages and well worth reading.

Let's never forget the Iran-backed suicide bomber's attack on the U.S. Marines barracks in Beirut in October 1983, killing 241 U.S. Marines, sailors, and soldiers and 58 French paratroopers.

When they say "no war with Iran", they mean no Iraq-style invasion to take over the entire country.

Nobody has suggested anything of the sort.

War with Iran means an air bombing campaign with small groups of special forces on the ground, as Israel has done.

That won't bankrupt anyone nor last forever nor be lost due to Iran's much larger manpower.

That said, it's still a major improvement over Republicans 50 years ago: during the Yom Kippur War, James Schlesinger, Secretary of Defense, wanted the US to remain neutral so it wouldn't be seen helping Israel hang on to the Sinai. At the time Egypt was fully on the Soviet camp.

"Engaging in dialogue with adversaries is not weakness; it’s the strength of a confident nation seeking peace." I had no idea Rand Paul was a hippie at heart.
