The process for approving a visiting professor is different from that for a tenured professor. It is hard to believe that President Garber was involved and knew of Hasia Diner's background. But as Ira Stoll wrote, we should ask: who did approve this appointment and what did they know?
"I got not even the courtesy of a “no comment” in response."
It's funny how Harvard's woke elite, while thinking itself so "transgressive" and liberatory, still lives up to the early 1900s ditty about the Boston Brahmins: "Where the Lowells talk only to Cabots, and the Cabots talk only to God," Except now, something tells me, not even God would get so much as a "no comment" response.
Will Hasia Diner feel a sense of repulsion when entering the Brookline synagogue in front of which the congregation has planted a sign for the antisemitic group "Black Lives Matter"?
Who is responsible for these hires? Disgusting and tone deaf.
My only response is that Harvard must have a learning disability.

Harvard Divinity School. Divine madness.

Harvard's ongoing mission statement appears to be Tarnish the Brand.
